How to keep the weight off

It is really hard to lose weight and even harder to keep it off. 80% of people who lose weight gain it again. But a study of some of those 20% that are successful has come up with some tips for what works.
  1. Dont ban any food - you need to be able to keep slim and live a normal life. Banning foods makes you feel deprived and you will likely fall off the wagon.
  2. Check your weight regularly - it is very easy for weight to creep on so weigh yourself every week and do something about it if you see the weight rising.
  3. Plan for failure - there will be times that are tough so make sure you have strategies for getting through them, including focusing on the reasons why you eat.
  4. Always eat breakfast - studies have shown that 80% of successful maintainers have a good breakfast.
  5. Exercise! - it is almost impossible to keep the weight off without being active. This doesnt have to be hard exercise, walking will count!
  6. Eat before you become ravenously hungry - that way you can monitor your portion size better.
  7. Never waste calories - you still only have a finite amount to use each day so make sure you use them to eat food you will really enjoy.
  8. Keep up the intake of healthy foods - especially fruit and vegetables.
Follow these rules and there is a good chance you will remain slim and healthy. And remember - studies have shown that you longer the weight stays off, the greater the chance that it will always stay off!
