The book is very much based on the low carbohydrate eating plans that are so popular at the moment. It is not really a diet, as much as a way of life. As a result there is lots to eat. There are 28 days of menus (and 28 days of vegetarian menus). I did struggle a bit with some of the foods as the book is American and some of the ingredients are not easily available. However, there are so many alternative days that it was very easy just to switch. The food is very good and tasty, and there are lots of recipes to follow. The book also provides a lot of background and information to the theory behind the eating plan, and why it is so much healthier. It was a very easy plan to follow, I never felt hungry, and seemed to eat an awful lot of food.

As a result I did only lose a half-pound over the 14 days. That may seem disappointing, but I never really felt I was dieting at all. I would definitely consider this type of eating plan for maintenance. If you were interested in an eating plan where you would lose weight slowly but surely, keep it off and never feel that you were sacrificing real food, this is the plan for you. After all, a half-pound every fortnight for a year is still around a stone in weight lost over the year! The book claims that people also lose more inches than weight, but it didn't seem fair to check this after only two weeks.

Overall an interesting book with a plan for the long term, suitable for maintenance too. If you feel like you need a quick loss boost, then this is probably not the book for you.
